====== Storage ======
TeemIP's Storage Management module relies on iTop's Storage Management module that has been slightly adapted to integrate with TeemIP' specific IP objects. The Storage Devices that have been modified by TeemIP are:

|  Storage System  |  {{icons8-server-storage.png}}  | A Storage System is used in TeemIP to describe any storage system that can be attached either to a SAN or to an Ethernet network. The logical unit of storage managed by a Storage System is a Logical Volume. |
|  SAN Switch  |  {{icons8-switch-san.png}}  | A SAN Switch is a network switch compatible with the Fibre Channel protocol used by storage networks. |
|  Tape Library   |  {{icons8-tape-library.png}}  | A Tape Library is a storage device which contains one or more tape drives, a number of slots to hold tape cartridges and an automated method for loading tapes. Tape Libraries are used for data backup or archiving. |
|  NAS  |  {{icons8-nas.png}}  | A Network-Attached Storage system (in short: NAS) is a specialized file server appliance that connects to the network. In iTop a NAS is linked to NAS File Systems. |

One attributes have been added to all these classes.

Upon creation or modification, an IP Address attribute can be set as a foreign key to an IP address. A drop-down box will list a choice of available IP addresses.

  * According to the **Allow attachment of already allocated IPs to CIs** parameter defined in the [[2_x:datamodel:ip-settings|Global IP Settings]] of the IP's organization:
    * Only addresses which status is //**released**// or //**unassigned**// (i.e. not allocated nor reserved) will be offered,
    * Or
    * Only addresses which status is //**allocated**//, //**released**// or //**unassigned**// (i.e. not reserved) will be offered,
  * Status of IP is automatically changed when IP is attached to the data centre device or removed from it,
  * If enabled through IP settings, CI name is copied into IP short name.

===== Fiber Channel Interfaces =====

A Fibre Channel Interface, is a network interface to a high-speed network technology primarily used for connecting shared storage devices (Storage Systems in iTop).

Next to the modifications listed above, TeemIP modifies the Fiber Channel Interface class by adding a status to it.
